Are entitled to a free ticket: with collecting of ticket directy at the ticket offices upon presentation of a document attesting one of the following conditions or submission of a self-certification form together with an identity card:

  • children under the age of 18 (children under 12 years must be accompanied);
  • Italian and other EU countries' student groups, accompanied by their teachers, by reservation and limit for the maximum number of partecpants fixed by Director of Institute;
  • teachers and students in degree programs, master's degree or post-university master, Phds of the following Italian faculties: Architecture, Cultural heritage conservation, Education Sciences or Arts and Philosophy with archaeological or history-artistic specialization, Academy of Fine Arts. The same benefits are granted to teachers and students of corresponding courses or faculties established in the UE countries. Students must present a valid enrollment document for the current academic year;
  • EU tourist guides by showing a valid license issued by the competent authority;
  • EU interpreters, when their presence is required alongside the guide by showing a valid license issued by the competent authority;
  • EU citizens with disabilities and a family member or accompanying person demonstrating their membership in social and health care services (Ministerial Decree no. 239 of 20/04/2006);
  • those who for study or research reasons certificated by schools or universities, academies and Italian and foreign research and culture institutes, as well as by the Ministry for Arts, Culture and Tourism, according to particular or motivated needs, heads of Institutes may grant free entry to the exhibition site under their jurisdiction;
  • MiBAC staff;
  • ICOM (International Council of Museums) members;
  • citizen of non-EU countries, to whom, subject to reciprocity, the provisions on reduced prices apply(children under 12 years must be accompanied).

We inform that from April 2nd, 2019, to access the Museum as a priority with Firenze Card, it is necessary to pre-book the entrance, at no additional cost, to the Firenze Musei call center or to the dedicated offices.

The ticket office closes at 18.20.
Closing operations begin at 18.40.

Due to security reasons the access is subject to controll by metal detectors.
Museum doesn't have a cloakroom, therefore entrance is not allowed to visitors with large bags, backpack, helmets, etc.

Water bottles are allowed if not exceeding 0.5 l.

Lost property: we inform visitors that knives, scissors and any other metal objects that could pose a hazard to people or art works will be withdrawn from security personnel at the entrance of the Museum and deposited at the metal detector.

The objects deposited at the metal detector and not collected on the day of the visit will remain in custody at the Museum until the first tuesday of the following month included, after which will be considered lost and found and delivered to the Lost property Office of Municipality of Florence (via Veracini 5/5, 50144 Florence, phone +39 055 334802, fax +39 055 3246473, e-mail, pursuant to applicable legislation.
Same procedure will be followed for items lost by the visitors in the Museum.
The Museum does not provide in any way to the dispatch of objects forgotten or lost.

At the ground floor of the Galleria there are two bookshops.
There you can buy museum guides in a variety of languages, as well as art publications and other gifts and souvenirs inspired by the works shown in the Galleria.

The museum is equipped with facilities for disabled people. Entrance and ticket office are accessible from Via Ricasoli 60.

The halls completely available are: Sala del Colosso, Musical Instruments department, Galleria dei Prigioni, Sala del Bartolini/Gipsoteca, the fourteenth century and Giotto halls and the bookshops.

A fitted bathroom is located on the ground floor near the elevator to the first floor.

The halls on the first floor are accessible by two stair lifts: the first measures approx. 70cm x 80cm, with a maximum capacity of 250 kg; the other measures approx. 65cm x 75cm – maximum capacity of 225 kg.
